Puppies are so pliable we can have the greatest effect on
their future behavior by spending some time positively teaching and socializing
them.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB)
has released a statement emphasizing the importance of early puppy
socialization.
According to the AVSAB; “Because the first three months are the period when
sociability outweighs fear, this is the primary window of opportunity for
puppies to adapt to new people, animals, and experiences. Incomplete or improper
socialization during this important time can increase the risk of behavioral
problems later in life including fear, avoidance, and/or aggression.”
“Enrolling in puppy classes prior to three months of age can be an excellent
means of improving training, strengthening the human-animal bond, and
socializing puppies in an environment where risk of illness can be

Positively Puppies! is a program inspired by Carolyn Krause of FireDog Enterprises. The class is a 7 week series of one hour sessions. Using Positive Reinforcement and Clickers Misti Fry CPDT and her experienced crew of instructors will teach you and your dog to work together.
Lessons include basic cues like sit, down, and stand. Other topics covered include: potty training, nipping and chewing, walking politely on a leash, not jumping on people, greeting visitors, come when called, socialization to non-family dogs and people, tolerance of grooming and handling, and a few fun tricks. Absolutely Adolescents! Is your older puppy still needing some polishing to become that Perfect Partner? The Absolutely Adolescents Class will continue the work we began in Positively Puppies and help you work towards a polite Side Kick. If you and your puppy missed the Positively Puppies Class you can still join us and we will get you caught up! This class is for puppies over 5 months up to a year. The next class in the progression will be the Kick Start Class.

In home private lessons are tailored to your needs. Scheduled by the hour, we will cover your top priorities and offer suggestions for creative solutions to your specific issues. Misti Fry CPDT or Carrie Galvan CPDT will come to your home or meet you at one of our hosting veterinary offices. Popular private lesson topics include: over the top bossy behavior, guarding toys or food, introduction of new puppy to resident dog, difficult potty training, children teaching the dog behaviors, plus all of the basic obedience.
